Lalique takes inspiration from Art Deco to create a custom bar at Daniel’s restaurant in New York

French crystal house Lalique unveils an Art Deco-inspired bar at Daniel’s restaurant in New York City.

Located in the heart of Manhattan, Daniel‘s restaurant, by Lyon’s Chef Daniel Boulud, lives up to its principle of “Accommodating the best American products in the respect of the French gastronomic tradition.” And today, it is the restaurant’s bar that has been designed to become The Place to Be, in an Art Deco decor.

Paris-based interior design studio Lalique worked closely with Chef Daniel and his team to create a bespoke bar experience. True to René Lalique‘s creative approach, Lalique’s first-rate expertise in crystal glass manufacturing, creative drive and technical flair energized the space. Each piece was made at Lalique’s Wingen-sur-Moder factory in the Alsace region by a dedicated studio team.

The bar menu features a range of rare spirits inspired by cocktail culture from around the world. In addition to cocktails, wines from the Rhone and Burgundy regions, as well as a solid selection of champagnes, are among the highlights of the restaurant’s award-winning cellar. To celebrate the opening of the new bar, Restaurant Daniel will offer a limited-time custom cocktail called “La Liqueur de René,” in honor of René Jules Lalique, the founder of the eponymous crystal company. This cocktail is made with The Glenturret 15-year-old Highland Single Malt Scotch whiskey, Montreuil Reserve Calvados, Pineau Des Charentes, Aromatic Bitters and garnished with a flamed lemon. The cocktail will be executed and served at the guests’ table from a cart adorned with Lalique pieces.

We are honored to have the opportunity to work with Chef Daniel Boulud and his team on this exciting Lalique installation to help reimagine the DANIEL restaurant experience,” enthuses Silvio Denz, President and CEO of Lalique. “Lalique Interior Design Studio’s extensive experience with crystal and custom creations allowed us to capture a sense of opulence and grandeur in our design, creating a truly immersive experience.

As guests enter the bar through the main entrance, they are greeted by a central archway bordered by two transparent Sudan panels in the Art Deco style. The Venice theme is carried throughout the restaurant and appears in the lounge and bar through illuminated arched panels.

By blending modern and antique, the entirely bespoke project creates an immersive and experimental dining experience. Triangle-cut Vibration crystal compositions installed on the bar facade and finished in a gold chandelier provide a vibrant visual effect of the shimmer of gold.
