When basketball inspires Gucci

Sports have had a special connection with fashion for decades. With its new pair of sneakers straight from the world of basketball, Gucci draws its inspiration from the 80s.

Among the many competitive sports in the world, basketball has become more than just a game. It is a cultural institution in its own right. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Lebron James are now icons that the world knows.

The fashion world has taken over the accessory, whether it’s a pair of Air Jordans or Adidas Forums, what was once designed for competitions has become an icon of streetwear. And luxury is not left out, streetwear interests many luxury houses to adapt them into coveted objects.

Gucci is no amateur when it comes to sneakers, but it has finally come up with its own interpretation of a luxury basketball-inspired shoe.

The Gucci Basket, in line with Gucci’s strategy to implement a more sustainable business model by 2025, is largely made from an innovative eco-sustainable material. Available in a variety of colors, the sneaker is made primarily of Demetra, Gucci’s revolutionary new material created using efficient processes with animal-free raw materials sourced primarily from sustainable, renewable and bio-based sources.
