The 6 series that marked 2022

Fantastic, psychological or historical, let’s take a look at the 6 series that marked us this year!

Wednesday

We start with one of the most anticipated series of autumn 2022: Wednesday, featuring Wednesday Adams, the daughter of Morticia and Gomez, member of the famous Addams Family. The young girl is now a student at the very special Nevermore Academy, run by Larissa Weems, her mother’s sworn enemy. As she learns to tame her visions, she must also thwart a series of murders that are terrorizing the town. Starring actress Jenna Ortega and directed in part by Tim Burton, the series has been a hit since its release on Netflix.

Inventing Anna

“Inventing Anna” is another big Netflix hit of 2022. The miniseries follows the journey of Anna Sorokin, aka Anna Delvey, a young Russian woman imprisoned across the Atlantic since 2019. Between 2015 and 2017, she managed to ingratiate herself with the New York elite and defraud thousands of American jet-set personalities. The series was produced by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal…). Journalistic investigation, prison visits and bling-bling are on the programme of the series released in February on Netflix.

House of the dragon

Another popular release in 2022 is the fantasy-medieval inspired series “House of the Dragon”, a “prequel” to the internationally acclaimed and award-winning series “Game of Thrones”, available on OCS. Nearly 200 years before the events of “Games of Thrones”, the continent of Westeros is in the grip of many dangers. A civil war, to be known as the “Dance of the Dragons”, is brewing in various parts of the kingdom. For its part, House Targaryen is gradually falling apart and the reign of the dragons is threatened.

Les combattantes

In the French series, “Les combattantes”, available since September on myTF1. The synopsis? During the First World War, in September 1914, the fighting is raging. In a small village in eastern France, a few kilometres from the German zone, four women find themselves thrown into the heart of the horror: Marguerite (Audrey Fleurot), a Parisian prostitute suspected of being a spy; Caroline (Sofia Essaïdi), the wife of Victor Dewitt, owner of a car factory, who has gone to the front; Agnes (Julie de Bona), the mother superior of a requisitioned convent turned military hospital; and Suzanne (Camille Lou), a young feminist nurse wanted for murder. They make up “Les Combattantes”: four exceptional women who will go through this tragic moment in French history during eight episodes.

Désordres

Last but not least, the series “Désordres”, broadcast at the beginning of October on Canal+. The actress Florence Foresti is the scriptwriter, the director and even the heroine, and she talks about mid-life and depression with humour and emotion. The point? The comedian has just moved into her new flat and the writing of her show is at a standstill. The heroine then begins a week without her daughter, whose custody she shares with her ex-partner. This is an opportunity to meet up with her three girlfriends to go on a binge and to ask herself questions about this mid-life crisis from which she seems to be finding it very difficult to extricate herself.

Emilie in Paris

The long-awaited season 3 of Emily in Paris was released a few days ago and is already causing a stir! One year after leaving Chicago to take her dream job in Paris, Emily finds herself at a turning point in her life. Faced with two very different paths, the young woman will have to choose sides, in her professional and personal life. If some criticisms have been spread on social networks (notably on the product placements in the series), the fans of the first hour will find their favorite heroine taking us to a (slightly too?) magical Paris.
